The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed Kaizer Chiefs’ appeal against a transfer ban.
Amakhosi were handed a two-transfer window ban following the illegal signing of the Madagascan midfielder Andriamirado “Dax” Andrianarimanana in 2018.
The club launched an appeal with CAS in February and the hearing was set for September 9.
However, the Swiss-based court has upheld the sanction.
A statement released by Chiefs on Tuesday said: “The Court of Arbitration for Sport Panel has dismissed Kaizer Chiefs’ appeal and confirmed FIFA’s DRC decision. This means the Club will not be able to register any player for two consecutive transfer windows.”
The development, meanwhile, leaves the future of new arrival Sifiso Hlanti in doubt. The former Bidvest Wits player, who has been training with the Soweto giants, will not be able to register be registered this season.
