Warriors striker Tinotenda Kadewere has apologised after the team lost to Liberia on Sunday in the 2019 Afcon qualifiers.
Zimbabwe needed a draw to book a place at next year’s finals in Cameroon but went down 1-0 in the West African country. William Jebor scored the only goal of the match in the 71st minute after the visitors had wasted several chances moments before.
Kadewere could have hit the target but missed all the opportunities he got until he was subbed off in the 81st minute.
The striker apologised to the fans on his Twitter account and promised a better performance when the Warriors play their last Group G game in March 2019 against Congo at home.
Zimbabwe will need at least a draw from that match to book their ticket to Cameroon. They remain on top with eight points while Liberia moved in the second position with seven. DRC and Congo occupy third and fourth place respectively.
