Triangle United progressed to the final of the 2018 Chibuku Super Cup after beating Dynamos 1-2 in a match played at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
United will now face defending champions, Harare City who overcame Caps United in the first semi-final encounter played yesterday.
The visitors had a bright start with Lameck Nhamo getting the first chance on goal in the second minute, but his effort was parried away for a corner kick. They continued piling pressure in the following moments and got the opener in the 6th minute through Kudzai Chigwida who headed in Russell Madamombe’s set piece.
The Sugar Boys came again seven minutes later with Nhamo who capitalised on a defending error by the home side to double the lead.
Dynamos only found their feet towards the half-hour mark when they got a few opportunities on goal which they wasted. They also made an early substitution, replacing Kudzai Dhemera with Marvellous Mukumba.
Triangle then hit the target on minute 39 but Madamombe’s effort was ruled off-side.
Nonetheless, Dembare pulled one back on the stroke of halftime through captain Marshall Machazani who connected a Valentine Kadonzvo corner-kick.
The opening minutes in the second period belonged to the hosts as they searched for an equaliser. However, the momentum was disrupted when the play was stopped for almost a quarter hour after the far side assistant referee was hit by a missile thrown by frustrated Dynamos fans. The fourth assistant had to take his place as the injury was serious.
Triangle managed to hold on for the remainder of the game as they won the match 1-2.
