Khama Billiat has reportedly become the highest paid player in the ABSA Premiership following his move to Kaizer Chiefs.
The Zimbabwe international joined the Soweto giants on a free transfer from Mamelodi Sundowns, signing a three-year contract with an option of an additional year.
According to Sport24, a South African sports website, Billiat is earning R10 million (about $741 000) a year before tax which comes up to R833 333 ($62 000) a month.
After 38% tax, Billiat reportedly takes home R515 000 ($38 500) a month.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane confirmed that they offered Billiat a big-money deal, but lost to Chiefs. The winger is also believed to have turned down an offer from Egyptian side Zamalek who were prepared to pay him an annual salary of $450 000 (R6 050 000).
