Russia played out a 1-1 draw against Turkey at the VEB Arena in Moscow in their final friendly match before next week’s World Cup on home soil.

The tournament hosts edged in front courtesy of Aleksandr Samedov ‘s strike 35 minutes in, only for half-time substitute Yunus Malli to level things up on the hour mark.

Russia could not regain their lead, making it seven matches without a win heading into their World Cup opener against Saudi Arabia, while Turkey are now unbeaten in five – each of those coming in friendlies.
