Former Kaizer Chiefs and Warriors defender Zhaimu Jimmy Jambo believes Zimbabwe can win the COSAFA Cup title for the second time in a row.
The Warriors reached the semifinals after beating Botswana 3-1 on penalties in a match played on Sunday. They will face Lesotho on Wednesday at 7.30pm.
In an interview with The Citizen, a South African newspaper, Jambo said: “I think they will take it again.
“I don’t see anyone taking it. It will be Zimbabwe again.
“The squad is there, and it’s strong, and they did well in the game on Sunday, so I think they will defend it successfully.”
Coach Sunday Chidzambwa fielded several foreign-based players over the weekend including Wales based defender Alec Mudimu and Mamelodi Sundowns star Khama Billiat. Captain Ovidy Karuru also started but was pulled out in the second half after sustaining an ankle injury which will see him miss the rest of the tournament.
