The Unity Cup has been thrown into dissaray after Highlanders confirmed that they will no take part in the competition.
Bosso where scheduled to take on perenial rivals Dembare on the the country’s national Unity day in the ZIFA Unity cup which is traditionally one of the country’s major festivities to comemorate the Unity accord signed between Zanu PF and PF Zapu back in 1987 on the 22nd of December.
Highlanders say they have already released their players on Holiday since the organisors of the tournament did not comment well in time.
Speaking to the Herald, Highlanders chairman Peter Dube said they where not avoiding the tournament but they just dont have the players to fufill the match as most of their players had already left the country.
“People mustn’t get wrong ideas that Highlanders is snubbing the Unity Cup. We are unable to take part because our players are already on leave. These boys had a rough season and they deserve a break.
“They know that we will resume training in January. We can’t risk the few who are around the city to play in a high-tempo match without training because they might pick up injuries,” said Dube.
The Herald say that the organisers of the tournament have already started wooing Caps United as a possible replacement for Highlanders.
