The Warriors lost 1-0 to Lesotho in a friendly match played at Setsoto Stadium in Maseru, Lesotho on Wednesday night.
Tumelo Khutlang’s late strike was the only difference in a match which saw both teams missing several chances.
Zimbabwe were the favourites to win the match considering their strong squad which included UK based Tendayi Darikwa, Kundai Benyu, Macauley Bonne and Admiral Muskwe. Highly rated midfielder Marvelous Nakamba was also part of the team.
Tendai Ndoro who was the captain failed to deliver when he partnered with Evans Rusike and Bonne in attack. Both teams had several chances in the first half but they failed to convert one.
The opening minutes of second half were well balanced but it was the Warriors who later took control of the game. With all the focus now on attack, Zimbabwe conceded a goal in the additional time.
Khutlang’s effort decided the outcome at the end of 90 minutes.
Zimbabwe will now shift their focus on their next friendly match against Namibia on Saturday.
