Highlanders coach Erol Akbay admitted that things were not working properly in his squad after they were knocked out of Chibuku Super Cup in first round by Harare City.
The Bulawayo giants suffered a 2-1 loss at Mandava on Sunday. William Manondo and Grey Mufandada were on target for City while Bosso got its consolation from an own goal by Tendai Samanja.
The result left Akbay very disappointed and failed to understand why his players were not converting the chances which came on their way.
“I am very disappointed with the way we play football. I was not so happy, we had good scoring chances in the first half and second half but we failed to convert,” said the infuriated Akbay.
“We make two mistakes and we are punished. My defender makes a back pass and they score, why should I defend such a player ah ,no!”
Highlanders are set to finish the league without a silverware. They are out of the title race and their Sunday’s defeat was a blow to their last hope of earning a silverware this season.
