Mighty Warriors striker Rutendo Makore has declared that she will be at her best again when they play against South Africa in the final of the COSAFA Women Championship today.
The forward is currently on nine goals and she is the tournament’s joint top score along with Malawian Temwa Chawinga. She scored four goals in their first group match against Madagascar and bagged a hat trick in the 3-3 draw with Malawi.
But the Black Rhinos Queens striker is still hungry for more.
“Nine goals are good but I want more and I will bring my A game on Sunday (today),” said Makore in an interview with the Sunday Mail.
“The plan is just to put in 110 percent focus because we cannot afford to lose, we are simply in this to win it.”
Makore also revealed that it was team work which guarded them to the finals.
“I feel so humbled to have taken my team this far but I don’t want to take all the credit because it was all teamwork. All the Mighty Warriors should also be applauded.”
Zimbabwe will be hoping to successfully defend their title this afternoon at Barbourfields. The encounter will be a repeat of the 2011 and 2002 final. The match will start at 3 pm and entry is free.
