Warriors head coach Callisto Pasuwa has expressed his delight after the Warrior sealed CHAN qualification but called for serious preparations for the tournament
Pasuwa’s team drew 1-1 with Lesotho to progress to the finals to be hosted by Rwanda early next year.
Zimbabwe joined 14 other nations that have booked a place.
Speaking soon after their arrival in Zimbabwe yesterday evening Pasuwa said, As a coach I am happy it’s an achievement for me and its opens door for players as well.
There will be scouts there who can see their talents and it will open up opportunities for them to play abroad. Remember in the last CHAN (played in South Africa) half of the team was bought after doing well which is something we are happy about.
Pasuwa also pleaded with ZIFA for preparations to start early so that the team is fully prepared for the tournament.
The Warriors preparations for games have been lacking seriousness with finance issues and starting camp late becoming norm each time the national team is called up. Just last week the team needed a $10 000 bail out from ZIFA president hopeful Philip Chiyangwa to pay for the air tickets and other costs.
ZIFA are yet to settle players outstanding allowances and bonuses.
