Polokwane City goalkeeper, George Chigova, has been added to the Warriors squad by head coach Norman Mapeza for the upcoming AFCON qualifier against Liberia on the 9th of June.
Chigova replaces Highlanders goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda, who withdrew from camp due to injury. He joins teammates Edmore Sibanda and Petros Mhari in the Warriors squad, which reported at Yadah complex for training yesterday.
Chigova, 28, earns his first-ever call up since his short ban from the game last year over the Limpopo-gate match fixing scandal. He has been the first choice at Polokwane City and is among a few players who played all matches of the season in the ABSA Premiership, making 30 starts while notching 11 clean sheets in the process.
This is the first training camp coached by Norman Mapeza since he took over the Zimbabwe National Soccer team this year, and comes just under two weeks before first round qualifyer matches for the 2019 AFCON.
