Dynamos coach, Lloyd Mutasa, is hopeful following their 1-0 premier league win away at Harare City at the National Sports Stadium on Thursday.
The early evening fixture saw the former premier league champions extend their wins to three this season. They have 11 points from eight games with two games in hand.
Responding to members of the media after the match, Mutasa said Dynamos look to draw inspiration from events from last year where they went on an unbeaten run just after beating Harare City.
“You know, if my memory serves me right, we turned the corner last time we played Harare City here and we went nine matches unbeaten and we would want to believe that this is the turning point and if we managed to take the three points . . . it will enhance our chances of going forward,” he said.
The Glamour Boys are yet to win at home in the premier league this year despite winning at the venue they share with three other clubs including Harare City.
“I would like to believe that it’s an away match and yes we played here at the National Sports Stadium so technically it’s an away match and we are still eager to win our first home match,” he said.
Dynamos lost 1-0 away at Black Rhinos and drew 1-1 against Shabanie Mine respectively in their last two matches. Mutasa is looking forward to more improvements in the team’s performances in their coming fixtures.
“I think we are still creating here and there some half chances but we are lacking composure in front of goal. You look at Quality [Kangadze]; we had a chance from Quality and we had another chance from Sadiki but they were not composed and we lost the chances.
“. . . you look at how we were conceding even after leading, so psychologically that would be in the minds of the youngsters. We need to take it bit by bit, more so when you are coming from a defeat, then a draw, you know, you would want to preserve what you have in the pocket,” he said.
Mutasa praised 23-year-old Cameroonian striker Christain Ntouba Epoupa, who scored Dynamos’ only goal today describing him as a ‘great striker’.
“Yeah, I’m sure you look at the goal; to us as the technical team, it’s a wonder goal. A goal from a great striker and it was worth winning us three points,” he added.
He said the players were adjusting to the premier league side’s shift in fixture kick off times from the traditional midweek afternoon kick off to early and mid-evening kick off.
“Obviously you know when you play in the night the tempo is much higher because of the weather, but all the same I think the youngsters are enjoying it at night,” he said.
