Today, the first major piece of silverware in the ZPSL season will be handed out at Babourfields Stadium when the ZNA Charities Final is contested by Highlanders and Caps United. Both teams have been in form with Caps United still basking in the glory of CAF Champions League success in making it into last 16 group stages.
Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe superb record in finals, coupled with the extra star quality in his squad, make Caps United justified favourites to lift the trophy today.
Highlanders will be the fresher of the two sides. Erol Akbay’s men last played over two weeks ago when they beat FC Platinum 3-0 to secure a place in the final of this competition. Recent signing Roderick Mutuma impressed with 3 assists whilst youngster Prince Dube scored a brace.
Caps United who have been busy in the jungles of Africa that saw them travel to Lesotho and DR Congo managed to beat fierce rivals Dynamos to book a place in the final.
Meanwhile, Highlanders, who will be looking for defending the title which they won last year have yet to concede a goal en route to the final. They will have the added advantage of playing in front of their legion of fans at their favourite fortress – The Babourfields Stadium.
Both teams will use the match to size each other up ahead of the Start of the new season next month.
