Djibouti have become the latest nation to publicly endorse CAF presidential election candidate Ahmad. Ahmad is set to take on long serving CAF president Issa Hayatou on the
Speaking to the BBC Djibouti FA President Souleiman Hassan Waberi said, “We as Djibouti are in for change at Caf and our vote will go for Ahmad.
‘We voted for change during the Fifa elections to bring in Gianni Infantino and we are also in for change now.
Djibouti’s endorsement of Ahmad comes despite a decision earlier in the year by the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) to support Hayatou.
However Waberi said he was confident other members of Cecafa would also vote Ahmad.
With the Cosafa region lead by Philip Chiyangwa announcing its support for Ahmad , Hayatou is set to face his biggest election yet.
Hayatou has lead CAF since 1988 and will be going for an 8th term. Chiyangwa has been spearheading the election campaign of Ahmad and says time for African football to undergo a leadership change.
