Football mother body, the Zimbabwe Football Association has praised the indefatigable Warriors following the flagship team’s draw with Guinea in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Rufaro stadium in Harare.
ZIFA Spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela delivered the congratulatory words to the association’s official website www.zifa.org.zw.
“We heartily congratulate the Warriors for their fantastic display against Guinea and this has brightened our chances of qualifying for 2017 Gabon finals”, Gwesela articulated in a jovial mood.
“We are extremely proud of this formidable generation of players.
“We are utterly elated and inspired by their devotion at a time when the Association is financially constrained.
ZIFA expressed gratitude to all partners and football loving Zimbabweans who supported the national team at Rufaro and all who could not make it to the stadium.
“We are grateful to fans and all partners who contributed to the success of the match.
“ZIFA is humbled by fans who thronged the stadium in their large numbers and we would like to apologise for the confusion that surfaced at the gates of entry.
“ZIFA will publish the match income and expenditure statement in due course
“The Premier Soccer League, Joma, Tanganda Private Limited, Herentals College, Daisy Lodge, Prophet Magaya and his partners all contributed generously towards the successful staging of Sunday’s match,” Gwesela added.
He went on to appeal to the nation at large to heed the association’s call for financial assistance since ZIFA is currently broke.
“While the association will not abdicate from servicing this flagship team, we appeal to various football stakeholders to partner the Warriors.
“ZIFA continues to find itself in a precarious financial position. We need financial resources for Warriors to be triumphant.
“When the Warriors are victorious, that glory does not come to ZIFA but the whole nation.
“ZIFA is in dire need of government and corporate sponsorship,” Gwesela further
