Bulawayo City technical members Farai Mujokoro and Gift Mvala have been handed five year bans from all football related activities for attempting to fix a Castle Lager Premiership game this season.
The pair attempted to give Border Strikers goalkeeper Talent Sande money to throw a game in Bulawayo City’s favour but were exposed after a trap was set up.
According to a statement from the PSL Farai Mujokoro and Gift Mvala were charged for contravening the provisions of order 31.2.2 of PSL Rules and Regulations.
Part of a statement from the PSL read:
Have assessed all the evidence adduced before the PSL disciplinary Committee they ruled as follows;
It is lucidly clear that Farai Mujokoro and Gift Mvala acted in commom purspose to try and match fix the game thereby contravening the provisions of order 31.2.2 of PSL Rules and Regulations.We thus find Farai Mujokoro and Gift Mvala guilty. Bulawayo City FC is not found guilty and cleared.
There is no evidence that presented that links the club to the commission of the offence.
Farai Mujokoro and Gift Mvala were each sentenced to five years ban from all football related activities.They were all ordered to pay the costs of the hearing by 30 November 2016.
