Caps United Player Method Mwanjali’s attepted murder case took a new twist as the complainant Tonderai Nhunzvi decided for an out of court settlement.

When Mwanjali appeared before Harare regional magistrate Noel Mupeiwa yesterday, the prosecutor Tinashe Makiya notified the court of the complainant’s intention to withdraw.

Mwanjali paid all medical bills for the complainant who appears to have fully recovered and has since returned back to work.

Makiya alleges that on April 17, around 4am Mwanjali was at 1+1 Happy Club at Long Cheng Plaza in the company of teammate Archieford Gutu.

When they were driving out of Long Cheng Plaza, Gutu’s Nissan Elgrand van almost collided with Tonderai Nhunzvi’s Toyota Altezza.

The court heard that Gutu fumed at Nhunzvi and accused him of driving badly.

Nhunzvi then closed his car windows but an infuriated Gutu reached for an unknown object and smashed the windscreen before returning to his car.

Nhunzvi’s friends Lionel Muchena, Edgar Muchibwa and Marian Chikomo intercepted Gutu from getting into the motor vehicle where Mwanjali was waiting.

The court heard that Nhunzvi and his friends wanted to settle the matter at the nearest police station but Gutu refused.

This attracted onlookers who were at the scene before Mwanjali left the car they were travelling in to understand what had happened.

Mwanjali asked Nhunzvi what had transpired and was told but however, ended up exchanging harsh words with him.

The court heard that Mwanjali went to his car and brought back a knife that he used to stab Nhunzvi twice on his stomach.

Mwanjali also cut Muchena on his right thumb while trying to block Nhunzvi from being attacked.
