With ZIFA, through Wellington Mpandare are repeatedly-insisting that Marshall Munetsi can still show up for this week’s AFCON qualifiers.
The Mabvuku-bred addressed the issue at a press conference ahead of today’s Ligue 1 game against Dijon.
Reflecting on the decision by the LFP not allowing players to travel to places outside the European Union during the international break, Munetsi said:
“We only saw a message that we are no longer allowed to travel. I think that’s the only message we have now.
“If we go (to Zimbabwe), we will have to isolate on our return and I don’t think that can benefit the club.”
Asked if he is disappointed by the decision to remain in France during the international break, the midfielder added: “Yes, because for my country, the coming game against Botswana is important for us to qualify, we needed a strong team.
“But I don’t understand why they denied us to travel because there are also similar competitions to AFCON qualifiers running here in Europe…
“And from my understanding, our football association has set up measures to protect us from the disease.”
