Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has confirmed that striker Sergio Aguero will miss the derby against Manchester United scheduled for early December.
The Argentine suffered a muscular injury in the 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Saturday and will be out for a “few weeks”. The 31-year-old limped off late in the second half of the match.
“Sergio will be out for a few games,” said Guardiola at a press conference ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk.
The manager added Aguero will “need a miracle” to be fit for the Manchester derby on 7 December.
His absence comes at a time his club is facing ten matches in five weeks.
“It’s the toughest period happening now.
“It’s a lot of games but it’s what it is. My advice to my players and myself is not to think too much. We have enough good players and the mentality will give us extra. Maybe it will help us,” said the coach.
