Kundai Benyu has pre-maturely ended his season-long loan at Swedish top-flight club Helsingborgs.
The Zimbabwe international, 21, was supposed to stay until February next year but due to lack of game time, he has cut short his loan deal.
Benyu fell out of favour following the appointment of new coach Olof Mellberg in September.
The midfielder confirmed the news on Instagram, saying: “Thank you for everything to everyone at HIF.
“Unfortunately, the last couple of months of my loan didn’t work out as I hoped… Maybe under different circumstances, they would have… Good luck in the future
Benyu still has two more years on his Celtic contract after signing a four-year deal in 2017, but his future there is also hanging in balance.
