Marvelous Nakamba’s Aston Villa are through to the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup after a 2-1 win over Wolves last night.
The 25-year old Zimbabwean midfielder was an unused substitute as Dean Smith’s charges did their business to make sure they will be in today’s last eight draw.
A well-worked goal from Anwar El Ghazi broke the deadlock in the 17th minute for Villa, and the strike seperated the two sides at the break.
Nine minutes into the second stanza, Wolves levelled matters through Patrick Cutrone, only for Villa to quickly restore their lead through Egyptian Ahmed Elmohamady.
Elmohamady’ s goal was the winner as Villa look forward to today’s draw.
Here are last night’s other Carabao Cup results:
Chelsea 1-2 Manchester United
Liverpool 5-5 Arsenal (Liverpool won 5-4 on penalties)
Manchester City 3-1 Southampton
