Social media was awash with congratulatory messages last night for Zimbabwean coach Kaitano Tembo after he guided SuperSport United to MTN8 glory courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Highlands Park at the Orlando Stadium.
The victory sees Tembo winning his first piece of silverware as a coach and also becomes the first Zimbabwe-born coach to lift the knockout competition.
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, who publicly stated this week that he will be rooting for SuperSport to win because of Tembo, took to microblogging site Twitter to congratulate the 49-year-old coach.
“I would like to congratulate Coach Kaitano Tembo and Supersport United on the MTN8 victory. They deserve the trophy after their victories over Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns.” wrote Mosimane.
Former CAPS United, Dynamos and Warriors left-back Cephas Chimedza, also saluted Tembo for the historic victory.
“Heartfelt congratulations to @4kaitano, #MTN8 winner. Keep it up Ngwenya” he posted.
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Mathew Rusike also applauded the SuperSport coach.
“Just like that. Congratulations @SuperSportFC and most importantly Coach Kaitano Tembo 🙌🏼 @Bradley_Grobler you are a beast” he tweeted.
