The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has decided on the Young Warriors team’s travelling arrangements to South Africa for the Afcon qualifiers following the xenophobic attacks in that country.
The match, a 2nd round, 1st leg encounter, is scheduled to take place on 7 September in Jo’burg at Bidvest Stadium.
According to The Herald, ZIFA spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela has confirmed the national U23 side will travel by air and has also revealed that they have been assured the security.
The return fixture will be played at Babourfields on Tuesday next week, and the winners will qualify to the biannual tournament scheduled for November in Egypt.
Meanwhile, the friendly match between Zambia and South Africa was on Tuesday night called off in response to the attacks on foreign nationals in Jo’burg.
