FC Platinum begin their CAF Champions League campaign this afternoon, playing against Callisto Pasuwa’s Nyasa Big Bullets in the preliminary round.
The Platinum Boys are making their third straight appearance in the competition while it’s Pasuwa’s second time guiding his side in Africa.
The match, which is a first leg of the encounter, is scheduled for Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyer, Malawi.
The Zimbabwe champions had logistical glitches that affected their travel arrangements but they managed to arrive safely and held a training session at the match venue last evening.
Coach Norman Mapeza is back in the fold after missing the team’s last games due to an illness.
The traveling squad has some experienced players who include Devon Chafa, Rahman Kutsanzira, Raphael Muduviwa, Francis Tizayi, Never Tigere, Kelvin Madzongwe, Gift Mbweti and Rodwell Chinyengetere.
Defender Gift Bello will miss this fixture due to a suspension carried from last season while goalkeeper Petros Mhari didn’t travel as he is mourning his father who passed away last Sunday.
Kick-off is at 14:30 Zimbabwean time.
