Warriors captain Knowledge Musona says he finds it strange to see Zifa failing to pay the players on time which always leads to unnecessary inconveniences.
The skipper was speaking on Friday night following a stand-off with the association which at one point cast doubts on the team’s participation in the final Group A game against DRC on Sunday.
The Warriors threatened not to fulfil their group stage campaign if Zifa doesn’t pay them their outstanding dues.
This was the second time for the players to make such threats with the first incident happening ahead of the Afcon opener against Egypt last week.
“I sometimes find it very strange why we always have to come to this point before every game,” Musona told reporters at the team’s training.
“I believe our association should have been prepared for this tournament longtime ago.
“Sometimes as players we don’t understand what is happening, we end up fighting in the last moment and it distracts us.
“We have to focus on the game but at the same time we are required to talk with them (Zifa), doing two things at once. For some players, they can’t shift their focus from those issues.”
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe are targeting a win in the Sunday’s encounter to stand a wide chance to progress to the next round of the tournament.
