Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa is not worried about the injured duo of goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda and striker Nyasha Mushekwi ahead of the Afcon Group A game against Uganda on Wednesday.
Sibanda sustained a sprain on his right knee while Mushekwi was also withdrawn before the end of the 1-0 defeat to Egypt on Friday after suffering a knock.
Speaking at a presser on Tuesday, Chidzambwa said that there is enough cover in all positions with keeper George Chigova returning to the fold after serving his yellow card suspension.
“The rules of the tournament are very clear, we carry 23 players. All of our players are equally good. George is experienced enough to fill the gap,” said the coach.
“Mushekwi’s injury report is expected later this afternoon, but if he is ruled out, we also have enough cover.”
Chidzambwa adds that they will do their best to get a positive result, but that will not come easy as Uganda are a good side.
“Uganda are a very good side, they beat DR Congo who are equally good.
“If we are to produce a good result, we have to produce a very good performance,” said the Warriors coach.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe need to avoid a defeat in the encounter so that they keep their chances of reaching the knockout stage alive.
