Zimbabwe national team players have now agreed to play Egypt in today’s AFCON 2019 opener after the government intervened in a money dispute that had threatened to derail preparations.
Warriors players had accused ZIFA of not fulfilling key payments as promised and threatened no to take the field if their demands were not addressed.
The association had promised each player $9 000 and had claimed the money had been sent through earlier in the week.
Acting Minister of Youth, Sports , Arts and Recreation Kazembe Kazembe met with players and guaranteed the Warriors payments would be sorted.
Players are now expected to receive their dues on this (Saturday) morning.
