Mali risk disqualification from the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations finals which are set to start on June 21 in Egypt.
This follows after the government interfered in the running of football in that country in 2017. The then sports minister dissolved the Mali Football Federation executive committee and replaced it with a provisional board.
FIFA disowned the new board and appointed a standardization committee to run the federation’s affairs.
A general meeting slated for 15 June will take place to approve committee orders and elect a new president of the federation.
Should there be no consensus after the meeting, FIFA will suspend Mali, meaning they will not be allowed to take part in AFCON.
