FIFA will assist the communities affected by Cyclone Idai through its FIFA Foundation.
FIFA Foundation managers Segbe Pritchett and Catarina Ferreira had a meeting with Zifa on Sunday and promised to supply kits, and in the long term, will build a stadium for the affected communities.
“FIFA Foundation managers, Segbe Pritchett and Catarina Ferreira held a meeting with ZIFA and promised to assist communities ravaged by Cyclone Idai,” Zifa posted on Social Media.
“Equipment and kits will come soon, and in the long term the foundation will build a stadium and about 15 pitches.”
The cyclone affected the eastern parts of the country, leaving a trail of destruction in Chipinge and Chimanimani areas. Hundreds of people lost their lives with thousands more left homeless.
Zifa, on their part, donated part of the revenue generated in the Warriors game against Congo in March while other local football entities also chipped in with assistance to the affected communities.
