The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League entered Match-day 5 and there were several talking points from the weekend’s action. Here are our five takeaways from Round 5.
Chiefs get first goal
Bulawayo Chiefs got their first goal of the season in a 4-1 loss to CAPS United on Sunday. Arthur Masiyiwa netted the consolation in the 63rd minute. The team, meanwhile, remain without a point this term.
Ndiraya marks second coming
Tonderai Ndiraya took charge of his first match after returning to Dynamos this week. He managed a 1-1 draw against TelOne but ended a four-match losing streak across all competitions.
Highlanders in red zone
Highlanders dropped to the 15th position after another goalless draw, this time against Mushowani Stars. The Bulawayo side is yet to win a game this season.
Controversy at Luveve
Perfect Chikwende’s controversial goal against Chicken Inn saw FC Platinum maintaining their undefeated run at the top of the log. The referee adjudged the effort to have crossed the goal line when, in fact, the ball was still in play.
Chitiyo’s return
Ronald Chitiyo made his comeback after a lengthy injury lay-off, coming on as an 86th-minute substitute in the 4-1 victory against Bulawayo Chiefs. He had spent over a year on the sidelines.
