FC Platinum beat Chicken Inn as Highlanders remain winless

FC Platinum maintained their top spot and moved to thirteen points after edging out Chicken Inn 1-0 in a top of the table clash played at Luveve Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Gamecocks who were in the second position going into the match slumped to third and have now conceded two straight defeats.

The only goal of the tie came from Rahman Kutsanzira in the 4th minute, though controversially, after the referee adjudged the strike to have crossed the goal line.

Devon Chafa followed up with a brilliant strike a few moments, but keeper Donovan Bernard collected the ball safely.

The hosts only found their feet after the 10th-minute mark when they started to retain more possession. However, none of their attacks yielded any goal with George Majika, Sipho Ndlovu and Clive Augusto all failing to beat the opposite keeper, Petros Mhari.

The game went to the break with Chicken Inn trailing behind despite controlling the proceedings.

The second half brought nothing to hosts as FC Platinum stayed disciplined in defence to preserve their narrow lead.

Instead, they were the ones who almost conceded just before the hour when Elvis Moyo’s blistering shot from a range missed the goal by inches.

No meaningful chances followed up, and it ended in favour of reigning champions.

In Harare, Highlanders remained winless after playing to a goalless draw against Mushowani Stars.

Bosso now have three points in the opening five games and are just one spot above the relegation zone. Mushowani, on the other hand, moved one place to displace Yadah in the 16th position.

The Church Boys’ slump follows a 2-1 loss to ZPC Kariba in a match played at Nyamhunga Stadium.

Elsewhere, Black Rhinos beat Harare City 2-1 at Rufaro Stadium.

Results:
Chicken Inn 0-1 FC Platinum
Mushowani 0-0 Highlanders
Harare City 1-2 Black Rhinos
ZPC Kariba 2-1 Yadah
