Zifa President Felton Kamambo says a number of top African teams are willing to play the Warriors in friendly matches ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations finals.
According to NewsDay, Kamambo has revealed that Tunisia, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Ghana, Cameroon, Namibia and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana have all expressed interest to play the Warriors as part of the preparations for the continental soccer showpiece set for Egypt in June.
The Zifa boss who is in Nigeria to attend the country’s FA awards, however, says the discussions for the proposed friendlies will only be finalised when he meets with fellow FA presidents again at the draw of the tournament on Friday next week.
“These countries are interested in playing us, we have discussed the friendly matches, but we will meet again at the draw to finalise,” Kamambo said.
The Warriors are in Pot 3 along with the likes of South Africa and Uganda, and will not face each other in the first round. But there is a possibility of facing Tunisia, Ivory Coast and Nigeria who are in other pots.
