Former Dynamos striker Roderick Mutuma broke an 11-year-old record in the DRC after guiding FC Lupopo to a victory over rivals TP Mazembe at the weekend.
Mutuma scored the solitary goal as Lupopo beat their more illustrious opponents Mazembe for the first time since 2008.
“This is a sweet victory for FC Lupopo fans, for Lubumbashi and for the whole of DRC. This is their happiest moment,” said Mutuma after the match.
The much-travelled striker who has also played for Caps United, Highlanders, Yadah and Nichrut locally said scoring in a big match of that magnitude gives him the confidence settling in a foreign land.
Mutuma also had a brief stint with Bloemfontein Celtics in South Africa has so far scored five goals since moving to Lupopo early this year.
