Reigning champions FC Platinum kicked-off their 2019 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League with a 2-0 away victory at Harare City on Friday.
Pure Platinum Play got their goals from Ali Sadiki and Elvis Moyo from either half.
The match had a cagey start, with both teams failing to create meaningful opportunities in the first quarter hour. The show in the middle park, however, was balanced throughout the half but it was the visitors who went to the break with an advantage.
It was Sadiki who had opened the scoring and netting the first goal of 2019 season in the 33rd minute.
The Sunshine Boys introduced the attacking trio of Tatenda Tumba, Wilfred Manondo and Kuda Musharu in the second half with the hope of securing an equaliser but the odds went against them again in the 81st minute when Moyo doubled the lead.
The second goal proved to be the winner as FC Platinum clinch their first away win in the tie since November 24.
