The Warriors are just ninety minutes away from realising their dream of reaching a second successive Afcon and a fourth overall.
A draw against Congo Brazzaville this afternoon could take them to Egypt, but a win will definitely be a bonus as it will see them finish the qualifying campaign on top of Group G. Zimbabwe currently lead Group B with eight points while Congo are at the bottom of the pool with five.
The Central Africans still hold a chance to book their place at the finals though, as they only need a victory of any margin.
A repeat of the 1992 Afcon qualifier, today’s encounter will be played at National Sports Stadium, almost 29 years after Congo denied Zimbabwe a ticket to Senegal at the same venue.
In other words, the Warriors want revenge so that they inflict the misery which they suffered almost three decades ago.
Kick-off is at 3 pm and SuperSport TV will broadcast the match live.
Team news:
Captain Knowledge Musona is expected to lead the Warriors team after passing a late fitness test on Saturday. Leeroy Mavunga of Yadah FC is the only local-based player in the selection while Admiral Muskwe of Leicester City U23 side is inline of making his international debut.
The Warriors, however, will be without the services of Club Brugge midfielder Marvelous Nakamba who has an injury.
The visitors, on the other hand, are also going to miss two of their key players through injuries – Thievy Bifouma and Baron Kibamba.
