ZIFA Central Region side Tongogara has been slapped with a heavy $10 000 fine following violent incidences after the title-deciding match against TelOne at Ascot Stadium in October.
The Army club was found guilty of causing extensive damage to the property. The mayhem broke out after the final whistle as angry Tongogara fans started to beat officials from the opposite team which had won the encounter to gain promotion into the PSL.
They have also received a two-season ban which has been wholly suspended provided they don’t commit the similar offence in three years and compensate the damaged property which belonged to league sponsors, Zimbabwe General Medical Aid Fund (ZGMAF) within fourteen days.
A one season ban can still be effected if Tongogara fails to pay the fine in 30 days, of which $2500 is suspended for a season.
Meanwhile, ZGMAF has since withdrawn its sponsorship after the incident that tarnished their image and destroyed part of their property.
