Northern Region Division One champions, Mushowani Stars will be hoping to carry their competitive edge into the Castle Lager Premier League next season.
Mushowani won promotion into the elite league on Sunday after beating Trojan Stars 4-1 while second placed ZRP surrendered the fight after being held to a 1-1 draw by Blue Swallows.
“I am thrilled with this promotion into the Premier League, it’s every coach’s wish to coach in the Premiership. I am sure it’s also every player’s dream to play in the Premiership,” said coach Levison Selous.
“Credit to the players for persevering to achieve this and making history by being the group of players to have brought Premier League football to the community. I also give thanks to the fans, the executive and the owners because without they we could not have achieved this. Team spirit and family unity saw us pull through.”
“I would also want to applaud all the other teams in the Northern Region League for the competition they gave us. It was the competition that gave us the resolve and desire that saw us being crowned champions, there were no easy teams in the league and every game was tough,” he added.
Mushowani have been perennial campaigners in the league, and the coming in of Selous this year changed their fortunes with the coach winning the championship in his first season with the club.
