Fifa announce shortlist for 2018 awards, Messi omitted

FIFA has announced the finalist for the 2018 Best FIFA Football Awards.

Lionel Messi has missed out for the first time since 2006.

Reigning World Player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo is back in the running, while there are two first-time nominees in FIFA World Cup finalist and adidas Golden Ball winner Luka Modric, and Liverpool’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah.
