League action continues this afternoon with Chicken Inn hosting Ngezi Platinum Stars in a potentially explosive encounter set for Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo.
The two rivals are occupying successive positions on the log with seven points separating them. Madamburo are in second place with 47 points while the Gamecocks follow in third with 40.
The home team have never beat their opponents in a league game with their best result being a draw.
Ngezi have two wins against Chicken Inn and a victory today will see them completing a double. But that won’t be easy as the Bulawayo team is pressing for maximum points to remain in the title race.
In another match scheduled for today, Highlanders travels to Gweru to face Nichrut at Ascot Stadium.
Tshilamoya who haven’t been in action for the past three weeks will miss the services of defender Peter Muduhwa due to a yellow card suspension but are likely to field their three new signings for the first time. The new players – Tafadzwa Sibanda, Denzel Khumalo and Tinashe Makanda – joined Bosso during the mid-season transfer window.
Nichrut, on the other hand, are hoping to put a better show after they narrowly lost 3-2 to title contenders Ngezi last week. The Midlands-based side are currently in the drop zone and a victory today will certainly going to be a boost in their fight for survival.
The first encounter between the two sides ended 1-0 in favour of Bosso.
In the capital, Herentals will host CAPS United at Rufaro Stadium.
The Green Machine are riding on a seven-match undefeated run, and are on the fourth position with 35 points on the log. They won the round 21 tie by a narrow 1-0 margin while their opponents showed resilience, coming from behind and forced a 2-2 draw.
However, the Students have been blowing hot and cold in recent games and will need to pull up if they want to cause an upset on the Harare Giants.
At Mandava, log leaders FC Platinum are looking to continue their dominance over Chapungu FC when the two sides meet this afternoon.
Pure Platinum Play who registered their first triumph in the second half of the season last weekend, have won six of the nine clashes against the Airforce team.
Chapungu are yet to taste a league victory in the tie, and they lost 2-0 in the reverse fixture.
Elsewhere, Black Rhinos lock horns with Bulawayo City at National Sports Stadium.
