Dynamos, Highlanders in draws as CAPS and FC Platinum cruise to victories

Dynamos settled for another draw when they were held to a goalless stalemate by Herentals in a match played at a soaked Rufaru Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The play was affected by the heavy rains during the game which left the pitch waterlogged. The wet conditions made it difficult for both sides to complete passes when attacking, forcing them to resort to long balls.

A few meaningful chances were created throughout the game and the encounter ended with no goals scored.

At Barbourfields Stadium, Highlanders and Chapungu played to a 1-1 draw.

The Airforce side broke the deadlock in the 21st minute through Bruno Mtigo who intercepted Peter Mudhuwa’s back pass before slotting home. Despite the deficit, the home team dominated possession and got the equaliser in the 62nd minute through Adrian Silla.

Bosso are now nine points behind second-placed FC Platinum who beat Chicken Inn 2-0 in a match played at Luveve.

Rodwell Chinyengetere went on target with a beautiful header as early as in the 4th minute to give Pure Platinum Play the advantage.

The Gamecocks pressed for an equaliser but failed to get the breakthrough. However, they conceded another goal when Farai Madhananga scored two minutes from the break.

The victory maintained the three-point between FC Platinum and log leaders Ngezi Platinum.

At National Sports Stadium, CAPS United beat Yadah 2-1.

The Green Machine got its goals from Milton Ncube in the 23rd minute and John Zhuwawu on the hour.

Yadah squeezed a late consolation in the 88th minute courtesy of captain Jimmy Dzingai’s effort.

Elsewhere, David Temwanjira and Tinashe Mupumha helped Shabanie Mine end their winless run by beating Bulawayo Chiefs 2-1.

Chiefs pulled one back in the 82nd minutes via Hamadzashe Moyo but it was too late to complete a comeback.

At Nyamhunga, ZPC Kariba edged Bulawayo City 1-0 with Tawanda Nyamandwe netting the solitary goal in the second half.

The tie between Mutare City and Triangle United ended 2-1 in favour of the Sugar Boys.

Lameck Nhamo scored the winner for United in the 69th minute a few moments after Rovers’ Brian Chinhoyi had cancelled out Collin Duwa’s goal.

In Gweru, Vincent Mhangu was on target as Black Rhinos beat Nichrut 1-0.
