Kevin De Bruyne has revealed he only spoke to Jose Mourinho twice during their time together at Chelsea.
The Manchester City midfielder worked with the Portuguese for half a season before he was sold to Wolfsburg in 2014.
His emergence as a superstar with City has lead to claims the decision by Mourinho – now United boss – is ‘biggest mistake’ of his management career.
The Belgain midfielder barely played under him at Chelsea before he was sold and De Bruyne has spoken about their relationship ahead of the Manchester derby.
“I would say distant,” De Bruyne said when asked by Football Focus about his relationship with Mourinho.
“I’m not really somebody who speaks a lot with coaches if a coach wants to speak with you, you do it. He is the boss, you can be good with each other but still there’s a distance between a coach and a player.”
