ZPC Kariba fail to show-up
The match between ZPC Kariba and reigning champions FC Platinum was not played after the former refused to travel to Harare insisting that they should host their home matches in Kariba.
FIB in last minute decision over Nyamhunga Stadium
The First Instance Body (FIB) homologated Nyamhunga Stadium making it the 8th football facility to host PSL matches. This came after ZPC Kariba refused to use National Sports Stadium in Harare as their home ground.
Wadi scores first goal of 2018 season
Ishmael Wadi of Bulawayo City scored the first goal of the season when they beat Chapungu 2-0 on Saturday. Wadi is also the only player in Match-day One to score more than one goal over the weekend.
45-year-old Benza makes PSL debut
Herentals’ 45-year-old Innocent “IB9” Benza made his Premiership debut when they lost 2-0 to Ngezi Platinum on Saturday. Herentals were also playing in their first ever PSL game after gaining promotion last season.
One newcomer collected maximum points on Match-day One
Nichrut is the only newcomer to collect maximum points on Match-day One of the Castle Lager Premiership. They beat Mutare City Rovers who were also promoted (1-0). Bulawayo Chiefs and Harare City both dropped points over the weekend.
