Eden Hazard’s double eased the mounting pressure on coach Antonio Conte as Chelsea bounced back to winning ways and moved into the top four with a 3-0 win over West Brom on Monday.
West Brom were dealt an injury blow inside three minutes when former Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge limped off to be replaced by Jay Rodriguez.
Olivier Giroud missed a good chance before he made a perfect assist to Harzard who scored in the 25th minute.
The visitors should have equalised in the 57th minute when Rondon outmuscled a dithering Andreas Christensen, but he failed to beat the goalkeeper. They wasted another chance from a resulting corner before they conceded in the 63rd minute.
Victor Moses latched on to Cesc Fabregas’ deflected pass to slot home a low shot past the keeper.
Hazard then capped the win when he cut inside before drilling a left-footed shot inside the near post.
Chelsea are now on 53 points, one point behind 3rd place Liverpool.
