Former international football star George Weah has been sworn in as president of Liberia.
The 1995 FIFA World Player Of The Year becomes the 25th president of the West African country.
Weah 51, won 61.5 percent of the votes in December’s election run-off, beating outgoing vice president Joseph Boakai who garnered 38.5 percent of the ballot.
The former footballer spent five years with AC Milan before he joined Manchester City in 2000. He made over 60 appearances for his country, scoring 22 goals.
He later played with Al-Jazira in the UAE Arabian Gulf League, where he remained until his retirement as a player in 2003, at age 37.
