Lloyd Mutasa is not giving up yet on the league title and is optimistic that a surprise can happen and see Dynamos leapfrog FC Platinum to the championship.
Mutasa who defied the odds by mounting a title challenge after assembling a squad of averaged players and rejects from other clubs, believes Chapungu can do them a favour by taking some points from FC Platinum.
“If you check the history of Chapungu they do well at home. Even when we played against them at the National Sports Stadium we only managed to score in the last minute. This shows how strong they are. So we believe anything can happen. People should not rule out a surprise,” said Mutasa.
Dynamos needs to beat Chicken Inn and hope that FC Platinum either draw or lose to Chapungu. Mutasa is banking on history as no team from outside Harare and Bulawayo is still to win the league title in post independent Zimbabwe. Masvingo United, ZPC Kariba and FC Platinum came closer in the past but crumbled under the weight of expectations on the final day of the season.
“We are Dynamos and we don’t give up easily. If you look at some of the titles we won before ,we won them on the last day. We did the same against Black Rhinos when I was still a player and even if you look at the recent titles we have in our stable won under Kalisto Pasuwa, we got them on the last day of the season.”
