Cristiano Ronaldo picked up 43.16% of the votes to win the 2017 Best FIFA Men’s Player at the Best FIFA Awards held last night.
The Portuguese claimed the award for a second straight year to equal Lionel Messi’s record of five honors.
Messi was second with 19.25% while former team mate Neymar came third with 6.97%.
Coaches and captains of each national team voted while while a member of the media from each country also took part in the voting.
Zimbabwe’s choices for the men’s awards were made by Norman Mapeza, who is one of the Warriors caretaker coaches, and Zimbabwe captain Knowledge Musona. They both voted for Ronaldo.
The media was represented by leading sports journalist Chipo “Chichi” Sabeta (above) who is a Herald Senior Sports Reporter. She voted Ronaldo in first while Eden Hazard was her second best. She chose Messi as her third best player in the year 2017.
