Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) and Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) President, Dr Phillip Chiyangwa, was showered with praises from South African football top brass during SAFA Constitutional Congress.

Chiyangwa attended the event as a guest  honour to SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan, who chaired the Congress.

Orlando Pirates Chairperson, Dr Irvin Khoza who is also SAFA Vice President and PSL Chairman describe the ZIFA President as the most powerful individual on the African continent.

Khoza said Chiyangwa had taken the African game by storm after engineering the demise of the one-time strongman, Issa Hayatou.

Kaizer Chiefs owner, Kaizer Motaung Snr, also praised Dr Chiyangwa describing him as a visionary and a brave individual.

Former SAFA President, Molefi Oliphant, attributed the new Confederation of African Football regime’s rise to power to the shrewd machinations of Dr Chiyangwa.

The SAFA Congress was held on Saturday, 21 October at the Sandton Convention Centre. – ZIFA
