Magaya Considers Mhofu

Yadah owner Prophet Walter Magaya is considering going for unsettled ZPC Kariba coach Sunday ‘Mhofu’ Chidzambwa, a close source has revealed.

Magaya has been searching for a substantive coach after relieving Jairos Tapera of his duties midway through the season. Thomas Ruzive has been the interim coach since then but Magaya wants somebody with a proven track record that resonates with his ambition of making Yadah one of the strongest teams in the league.

“ The Prophet has been weighing a number of options but Mhofu is one of those he is seriously considering to take charge of the team next season. Mhofu is well respected in football circles and his coming in will add some weight to the team, something that Prophet Magaya wants. So don’t be surprised when that comes to fruition at the end of the season,” said the source.

Chidzambwa is unsettled at ZPC Kariba because of the animosity between him and club chairman Tungamirai Mazarire. The former Warriors recently announced that he was stepping down from his post at the end of the season and the situation was further exacerbated by the leakage of an audio recording in which Chidzambwa and his assistant Brenna Msiska were lamenting their bad treatment by the executive.

Yadah despite a promising start to the season in which they went for the first five games without a defeat, hit turbulent waters with Tapera getting into conflict with Magaya over team selection. The ambitious team has also acquired some the most experienced players on the local scene with Dennis Dauda moving in from Caps United and Rodrick Mutuma signing from Highlanders during the mid season. Exciting former Caps United winger Tafadzwa Rusike is training with the team while Oscar Machapa who was with Congolese giants AS Vita is also training with the team with a hope of signing for them.
