Bulawayo City coach Mandla ‘Lulu’ Mpofu says his team is more concerned about staying in the premiership than targeting the Chibuku Super Cup.
Bulawayo City who are eleventh on the log standings with 32 points , just six points ahead of Shabanie Mine who are on the drop zone, brewed one of the shock results in the Chibuku Super Cup sending Dynamos packing with a 2-1 victory.
With any of the quarter final teams with a chance to win the Chibuku Super Cup, Mpofu believes their energies are better preserved for the league rather than the cup.
” In as much as we want to win Chibuku, I think it doesn’t make sense to win the cup and get relegated. So our focus remains to stay in the premiership. We have to cut our celebration and start looking at Tsholotsho game on Wednesday which is key,” said Mpofu.
” Nobody gave us a chance that we can beat Dynamos but we always believed in ourselves. I told the players to believe in themselves and they enjoyed the game and we won,”.
Bulawayo City cruised to the next round thanks to goals from Sipho Ndlovu and Zephaniah Ngodzo which cancelled out a first half strike from Christian Epoupa.
